In the Doge's Palace, as always, a demon and an angel sat and fought for supremacy over Venice.
In the dark Doge's rooms, as always, people passed by them, not distinguishing between good and evil, and not knowing what was in store for them.
"I love tourists," the demon said.
"Them, or the curse they bring with them," the angel asked.
