JOVAN DUČIĆ. FOUNDER, PATRON AND PATRIOT – TWO GRANTINGS

Abstract

We all know Jovan Dučić, that is, his literary work. Much has been written about it, scientific meetings have been held, doctoral dissertations have been defended, and every year the "Dučić Poetry Evenings" are held in Trebinje, an event whose theme always has some link with our famous poet. However, Jovan Dučić was not only a writer. His diplomatic career lasted more than three decades. But Dučić was more than that. He was a partisan and a patriot who constantly tried to do something for his hometown. He achieved this with an extraordinary sense of art. Today, Dučić's gifts are still found and preserved in Trebinje. Dučić was also a great benefactor and patron. He supported young people and enthusiasts who want to learn, to learn something new. He wholeheartedly supported talented and unknown artists. This work shows his two gifts to young people - children, who presented themselves to him in the best possible light.
